Hyderabad, July 28, July 28: An analysis of election affidavits by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has revealed that Chief Ministers from southern states dominate the list of the country’s wealthiest CMs. The report also states that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has the highest number of criminal cases among serving Chief Ministers.
The ADR examined the election affidavits of 31 Chief Ministers from 28 states and three Union Territories to prepare the report.
According to the report, Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar tops the list with declared assets worth ₹1,413 crore. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ranks second with assets of ₹931 crore, while Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay occupies the third position with declared assets of ₹648 crore.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is ranked eighth on the list with declared assets exceeding ₹30 crore.
The report also highlights the criminal cases declared by Chief Ministers in their election affidavits. According to ADR, Revanth Reddy has declared 80 criminal cases, the highest among all serving Chief Ministers in the country.
He is followed by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who has declared 29 criminal cases, while Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has 19 cases. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also has 19 criminal cases, placing him fourth in the list.
ADR noted that 14 of the 31 Chief Ministers have declared criminal cases in their election affidavits.
The report further states that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has the lowest declared assets, valued at approximately ₹55 lakh.
According to ADR, the combined declared assets of all 31 Chief Ministers amount to ₹8,660 crore.
The findings are based solely on the information submitted by the Chief Ministers in their election affidavits and compiled by ADR in its latest report.
