Hyderabad, Aug 6 (Maxim News): Right from the milk that babies are fed in the morning to tea powder, rice, oil, chilli, gram flour, ghee and spices are Adulteration . Urea-based milk, paneer, chilli powder with brick powder, spices with chemicals, synthetic colour in turmeric, coconut dust in tea powder, papaya seeds in chillies, onion in ginger garlic paste, banana pulp, etc. All the essential items that people use daily are becoming adulterated.
Currently, adulterated goods are flooding the market. Recently, the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Teams (H-FAST) and GHMC Food Safety officers seized tons of fake food items in a special drive. Two days ago, the police found that highly toxic chemicals were being mixed even in spices. The raids in the areas of Mailardevpally and Balapur police stations and the seizure of 25 tons of adulterated spices created a sensation across the state.
Currently, most of the essential commodities are being supplied from Hyderabad. Substandard goods from markets like Begambazar, which are imported from abroad, are being supplied to Telugu states and other cities. Some swindlers are buying substandard goods from other areas, setting up sheds on the outskirts of the city, processing those goods with various chemicals, packing them in branded covers and transporting them to the market. Poor and middle class people are consuming them and falling ill with many diseases. The swindlers, who are accustomed to illegal earnings, are looting crores of rupees by playing with the health of the people. (Maxim News)
