Air Force Station Hakimpet Conducts Media Orientation Capsule

Secunderabad, 31 Jul 2023: In its endeavour to enhance media outreach, mutual understanding, and to strengthen future collaboration, the Indian Air Force is carrying out media orientation capsule at various field units under all its Commands situated across the nation. The first such media orientation capsule under the Training Command Area of Responsibility was held at Air Force Station Hakimpet on 31 July 2023 where valuable insights about the functioning of the air force training establishments i.e. Air Force Station Hakimpet, Air Force Academy Dundigal, Air Force Station Begumpet, and Air Force Station Bidar were explained to the media personnel.

Apart from disseminating information specific to these bases, the capsule also provided glimpses into the rich history of the IAF, critical capabilities, achievements and the role being played towards nation-building by the air warriors. It was also an effort towards IAF’s commitment towards fostering transparency as well as enhancing communication with the media. The event took place in coordination with Regional Defence PRO. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a wide cross-section of the media fraternity, with almost 40 members in attendance.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Air Commodore Pankaj Jain, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Hakimpet. He thanked the media personnel for their yeoman service to the nation and the society and urged them to become a force multiplier, in projecting the positive efforts of the armed forces. He brought out the need for a collaborative approach, which would ensure that accurate and timely information is shared with the countrymen.

During the course of the capsule, representatives from all air bases covered their respective roles, while also bringing out key doctrinal aspects of air power, the IAF’s quest for Atmanirbharta, stellar role played by IAF during various Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions, amongst many other important issues. The media representatives interacted with personnel from various branches and streams, and got a firsthand account of the daily routines and associated challenges. The media personnel also witnessed the flying operations, being undertaken at Hakimpet. The event met its objectives of creating awareness and mutual understanding while also building long lasting relationships.
