Amavasya Impacts Attendance As Telangana Schools Reopen

Karimnagar/Hyderabad, June 15 (Maxim News): The prevalent superstition among people not to start any initiative on an Amavasya day hindered the attendance of students on the first day of reopening of schools on Monday. After summer holidays, schools were reopened on Monday.

Though the reopening of schools was scheduled on June 12, the state government postponed it to June 15 due to inclement weather conditions. School authorities decorated institutions colorfully to mark the beginning of the new academic year, but very limited attendance dampened the spirits on the first day.

Usually, the attendance would be less on the first day of reopening of schools. The reopening day falling on Amavasya has further declined the strength. A majority of the parents were disinclined to send their children to schools.

Going a step ahead, people are posting messages on social media criticizing the government, especially the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for reopening schools on the day of Amavasya. (Maxim News)
