Hyderabad, Sept. 20: Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) after its victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections.
ABVP won three of the four central panel posts in the DUSU elections held on Saturday.
Yash Dabas won the president’s post, while Riya Chhawdi secured the secretary position.
Lakshya Raj Singh was elected joint secretary, giving ABVP three positions on the central panel.
Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice president’s post. He secured 30,615 votes, according to election results.
Amit Shah Hails ABVP’s DUSU Election Result
Shah congratulated ABVP workers and described the result as a message about the views of young people.
In a social media post, he said students from across India study at Delhi University.
He said the university’s mandate reflects the sentiments of youth across the country.
Shah also linked the result to ABVP’s “Nation First” ideology and its commitment to student welfare.
The DUSU election recorded a voter turnout of 40.46 percent.
The results gave ABVP the president, secretary and joint secretary posts. The vice president position went to independent candidate Shokeen.
