New Delhi, Sept. 20: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised the Congress over a mimicry performance involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Indore.
Rijiju reacted after comedian Pulkit Mani mimicked Modi during the student focused programme on Saturday.
The performance included imitation of Modi’s mannerisms, gestures and style of interacting with people.
Rahul Gandhi was present on stage during the performance and was seen laughing. The episode later triggered a political exchange between the BJP and Congress.
Kiren Rijiju Calls Congress ‘Party of Comedians and Jokers’
Rijiju shared a Congress post featuring the mimicry clip on X.
He wrote that the Congress had become a “Party of Comedians & Jokers” and added “RIP” to his post.
The BJP has criticised the performance and Gandhi’s reaction to it.
Several BJP leaders alleged that the act also mocked an interaction involving Modi and an elderly woman.
Congress leaders, however, disputed the criticism and defended the performance as political mimicry.
Pulkit Mani is a stand up comedian and social media content creator. His performance at the Indore event has since become the focus of political commentary.
The ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme was organised as a student focused interaction led by Rahul Gandhi. The event also featured discussions on student issues and education.
