Amaravathi, Sept. 1: Andhra Pradesh Weather Alert has been issued as a low pressure area is likely to trigger rain and gusty winds across the state.
The weather system lies over Gangetic West Bengal, adjoining north Odisha and the northwest Bay of Bengal.
The associated upper air circulation extends up to 7.6 kilometres above mean sea level. It also tilts towards the southwest with height.
According to the weather department, the system may move west northwestward during the next 48 hours.
It is expected to move across north Odisha and Jharkhand during this period. As a result, weather conditions may remain unsettled across Andhra Pradesh.
The southwest monsoon trough also remains active over several parts of the country. It passes through the low pressure area before extending towards the east central Bay of Bengal.
Therefore, light to moderate rain is likely in Andhra Pradesh during the next three days. Some areas may also receive showers accompanied by strong winds.
The weather department has advised people to remain alert during periods of heavy weather activity.
Andhra Pradesh Weather Alert: Strong Winds May Accompany Rain
In North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, light to moderate rain or showers are likely at one or two places during the next three days.
Strong winds may accompany the rain in these areas. Wind speeds could reach 40 to 50 kilometres per hour.
Meanwhile, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh may also receive rain from Tuesday to Thursday. Light to moderate rain or showers could occur at one or two places.
The department has also forecast strong winds in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Wind speeds may reach 40 to 50 kilometres per hour during rainfall.
Rayalaseema may see similar weather conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Light to moderate rain or showers could occur at one or two places.
However, the weather pattern may become more active in Rayalaseema on Thursday. Several areas could receive thunderstorms accompanied by rain.
Strong winds may also reach speeds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour in the region.
The developing weather system could therefore bring changing conditions across Andhra Pradesh. Coastal districts may experience rain and gusty winds, while Rayalaseema could see thunderstorms later in the period.
The weather department has urged residents to exercise caution during rainfall and strong winds. People should remain alert to local weather updates and follow official advisories.
The forecast indicates that the next three days could bring a noticeable spell of unsettled weather across the state. (Maxim News)
