Internet/Hyderabad, Sept 1 (Maxim News): India is likely to buy the Russian S-400 Triumph missile systems, which worked effectively in ‘Operation Sindoor’, again. It is reported that Russia has responded to the tender issued to buy five more S-400 systems for the Indian Air Force. To this extent, Russia has agreed to sell 5 new systems to India, according to relevant sources.
The S-400, known as ‘Sudarshan’ in the Indian military system, was inducted in Operation Sindoor last year. Indian defense sources said that the system worked effectively in successfully intercepting threats from the enemy. Western Air Command Chief Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra had previously revealed key details about the performance of the S-400 in a podcast. He said that the S-400 shot down a Pakistani Air Force reconnaissance aircraft at a distance of 314 km. He said that it was very rare for a ground-launched air defense missile to hit a target at such a distance. The S-400 is not a single missile. It consists of many components such as state-of-the-art radars, command systems, and various types of missiles. Some of these missiles have a range of up to 400 km. This allows enemy aircraft to be detected and engaged before they reach Indian airspace. This is why India is giving high priority to the S-400 in its multi-layered air defense system. According to the first agreement signed in 2018, India has decided to purchase a total of 5 S-400 units. Of these, 4 units have been received by India so far.
