AP Telangana Weather | Hyderabad, Sept. 23 (Maxim News): Heavy rains are lashing parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal moves towards the Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the system was located around 60 km southeast of Kalingapatnam and 140 km east-northeast of Visakhapatnam at 8.30 am on September 23.
The system is expected to move west-northwest and cross the North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coast near Kalingapatnam between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur by Wednesday night.
The weather system is likely to bring widespread rain, heavy to very heavy showers and strong winds along the Andhra coast. The IMD has forecast extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, followed by very heavy rainfall on Thursday.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places on Wednesday and Thursday.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible at some places, while extremely heavy rain may occur at isolated locations. Squally winds of 50 to 60 kmph, with gusts up to 70 kmph, are also likely along the coast.
Rainfall is expected to continue into Friday, although the intensity is likely to reduce. Strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, may affect coastal areas.
Rayalaseema is also likely to receive light to moderate rain and thunderstorms at several places on Wednesday. Isolated heavy rainfall and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are possible.
In Telangana, the weather system is expected to bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to several districts. The IMD has issued an extremely heavy rain warning for September 23 and 24, followed by a very heavy rain warning on September 25 and 26.
The red alert covers districts including Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanamkonda. Other districts are also under orange or yellow warnings.
Hyderabad is also expected to receive rain. The IMD forecast moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph in the city on Wednesday and Thursday. Hyderabad recorded 21.8 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on September 23.
Authorities have advised residents to remain alert during heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. Officials are monitoring the situation as the deep depression approaches the coast. (Maxim News)
