Atal Bihari Vajpayee Remembered As PM Modi Hails Legacy

The nation remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tributes to the former Prime Minister and highlighting his enduring legacy. PM Modi said Vajpayee’s leadership would continue to guide the all round development of the nation. The remembrance marked a significant moment, as leaders and citizens reflected on Vajpayee’s role in shaping modern India.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. He served as India’s Prime Minister three times. He is widely remembered as a statesman and visionary leader. His leadership, therefore, continues to inspire millions across the country. Over the years, his contributions have remained central to discussions on governance and nation building.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “My heartfelt salutations to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, who resides in the hearts of the countrymen, on his birth anniversary. He dedicated his entire life to good governance and nation-building.” The Prime Minister also spoke about Vajpayee’s personal qualities and public life. He said Vajpayee would always be remembered not only as an “eloquent orator” but also as a “spirited poet”.
PM Modi further said, “His personality, works, and leadership will continue to serve as a guiding path for the all-round development of the country.” He added that Vajpayee’s birth anniversary was a special occasion for all countrymen to draw inspiration from his life. Later, the Prime Minister noted, “His conduct, grace, ideological steadfastness, and unwavering commitment to placing the nation’s interest above all serve as an exemplary standard for Indian politics. Throughout his life, he demonstrated that true excellence is not established by position, but by conduct — and it is that which guides society.”
Meanwhile, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Uttar Pradesh to inaugurate Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow. The memorial has been developed to honour the legacy of luminaries of independent India. Rashtra Prerna Sthal is designed as a national memorial and inspirational complex of lasting significance.
The complex has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 230 crore and spreads across 65 acres. It aims to promote leadership values, civic engagement, cultural awareness, and public motivation. It also features 65 feet high bronze statues of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, symbolising their contributions to India’s political thought and public life.
