Bandagi Badesha Urges Telangana Govt To Act Against Vested Interests: Seeks Filling Of CEO Post

Hyderabad, Sept. 5 (Maxim News) : Telangana State Waqf Board member Moulana Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badesha Quadri has alleged that a section of vested interests, in collusion with certain officials, is deliberately obstructing the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to the Board.

Badesha Quadri claimed that the group’s “clandestine” activities are aimed at ensuring the CEO’s post remains unfilled.

According to him, their modus operandi involves filing “vexatious and frivolous petitions” in courts on extraneous grounds, thereby prolonging the vacancy indefinitely. He argued that the absence of a CEO renders the institution ineffective, ultimately enabling vested groups to exploit and plunder Wakf properties.

Recalling the government’s stance, Badesha Quadri noted that Telangana was among the first states to oppose the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025 under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He pointed out that both the Chief Minister and AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had given repeated assurances that the Act would not be implemented in the state.

A resolution in this regard, he said, would be passed and sent to the Government of India, similar to moves made by West Bengal, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

In light of the ongoing issues, Badesha Quadri urged the government to rescind G.O. 67, issued by the Minorities Welfare (ESTT-1) Department on August 12, 2025. He stressed that affirmative steps must be taken to restore public confidence in the Wakf Board.

As a consequential measure, he appealed to the state to fill the vacant CEO post at the earliest to protect Wakf institutions and their assets. (Maxim News)
