Bandi Sanjay Threatens Action Over Maisamma Temples

  • Union Minister warns to demolish mosques if temples not rebuilt in 48 hours
  • Bandi Sanjay confronts officials over demolition of 46 Maisamma shrines in Ramagundam

Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar issued a strong ultimatum to the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation over the demolition of 46 Dari Maisamma temples in Peddapalli district. Expressing outrage at the municipal action, he warned that if the demolished temples were not rebuilt within 48 hours, all mosques and other religious structures on roads in the area would be demolished in retaliation. The Minister made these remarks while speaking from Hyderabad on Saturday.

Bandi Sanjay stated that he would personally visit Godavarikhani after the Jubilee Hills by-election to oversee the situation and, if necessary, take action himself. He said officials had no justification for demolishing only temples in the name of road expansion. The Union Minister questioned why constructions belonging to other religions were not removed as part of the same drive.

According to official sources, Bandi Sanjay called Peddapalli District Collector Koya Sree Harsha and Ramagundam Municipal Commissioner Aruna Sree to express his anger. Municipal authorities informed him that the structures were cleared for road expansion projects. However, the Minister rejected the explanation, alleging bias and selective targeting. “Why were only the temples removed and not the structures of other religions?” he asked during the conversation.

He further warned that if the officials failed to rebuild the Maisamma temples within 48 hours, he would lead efforts to demolish all mosques built along roads in Godavarikhani. “All government officials, including the Chief Secretary, will have to stand before the public,” Bandi Sanjay said, adding that officials would be held fully responsible for any consequences arising from their inaction.

The controversy has sparked tension in the Ramagundam area, with the Minister’s warnings likely to escalate the ongoing dispute over religious structures and urban development works.
