Biopic on late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the works

Mumbai, June 28: Together, directors Vinod Bhanushali and Sandeep Singh are bringing the life of the late prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to the big screen.

Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon, Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye – ATAL” is the title of the biopic.

The Untold Vajpayee: Politician and Paradox, written by acclaimed novelist Ullekh N.P., is the basis for the movie.

When discussing the movie, Vinod said: “I’ve always been a huge fan of Atalji. a natural leader, a model statesman, and a visionary. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was everything mentioned above. It is an enormous honour for us that Bhanushali Studios Ltd is bringing his legacy to the big screen because of his immeasurable commitment to the development of our country.”

Sandeep Singh added, “As a filmmaker, I believe that cinema is the best medium to communicate such untold stories, which will unveil not only his political ideologies but also his humane and poetic aspects, which made him the most adored leader of the opposition as well as India’s most progressive Prime Minister.”

The makers, who are scouting for the actor to portray the role of Atalji, will soon announce the actor and director of the film. Scheduled to go on floors in early 2023, the film will be released on Christmas 2023, which marks the 99th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The movie “Atal” is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan, Kamlesh Bhanushali, and Vishal Gurnani. Juhi Parekh Mehta, Zeeshan Ahmad, and Shivv Sharma also contributed to the film’s production. It is presented by Bhanushali Studios Limited and Legend Studios.
