BJP & Congress are against of the Muslim startups, entrepreneurs: Owaisi

Hyderabad, November 27 (Maxim News): The proposed government support for Muslim startup founders and entrepreneurs in Telangana has ignited a heated debate, with both the BJP and Congress expressing their disapproval. AIMIM supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has emerged as a key figure in this discourse, advocating for the provision of targeted assistance to marginalized communities.

In a recent tweet, Owaisi questioned Karnataka Deputy CM and Congress leader D K Shivakumar‘s assertion that a caste census is unnecessary, challenging the notion that youth, children, and women are oblivious to caste-based discrimination. He underscored the undeniable disparities faced by Muslims, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs) compared to dominant castes.

Owaisi emphasized that Muslims in Telangana are not merely voters but full citizens deserving equitable participation in the state’s progress. Supporting their entrepreneurial endeavors aims to transform them into job creators rather than passive job seekers. This initiative, he stressed, is not rooted in religious favoritism but rather stems from empirical evidence highlighting the socioeconomic backwardness of these communities.

He cited instances of discrimination against Muslims in accessing business loans and securing private sector employment, highlighting their overreliance on daily wages in the informal sector. These factors, he argued, underscore the necessity for tailored support measures.

Owaisi referred to the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. (TSIIC), which already reserves 12% of industrial plot allotments for SCs, aligning with the Sudheer Commission Report’s recommendation for extending this policy to backward Muslims. He clarified that this does not imply establishing an exclusive IT Park for Muslims but rather advocates for targeted assistance to help them overcome systemic barriers.

Owaisi concluded by accusing the Congress of unveiling its “true anti-Muslim stance” in response to the proposed support measures and urged the party to clarify whether it intends to reinstate or abolish the quota system for backward Muslims in Karnataka.

This ongoing debate underscores the critical role of government intervention in addressing inter-community disparities and promoting inclusive economic growth in Telangana. The effectiveness of targeted assistance programs in empowering marginalized communities remains a subject of scrutiny, and the outcomes of the proposed support measures for Muslim entrepreneurs will be keenly observed.
