The BJP inciting hatred for electoral gains has become a serious political charge in Telangana, with TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud strongly criticising the ruling party at the Centre. He said the BJP was trying to win votes by creating divisions in the name of religion. He also said the people of Telangana would not fall for what he described as provocative policies. His remarks came while countering criticism from the BJP.
Mahesh Goud accused the Centre of focusing on Telangana in every Union budget without fair treatment. He said funds were being allocated only to allies of the BJP. He further alleged that northern states were being looted while other regions suffered. Meanwhile, he said the BJP’s main political strategy was to incite hatred rather than focus on development. Therefore, he asserted that Telangana voters would reject such politics.
Continuing his attack, Mahesh Goud mocked the BJP’s performance in the Jubilee Hills bypolls. He said the party failed to even secure its deposit. He added that Union Minister Kishan Reddy himself had admitted that he did not get a deposit in that segment. According to him, this reflected public rejection of BJP policies in the state. He also accused the BJP government of trampling on laws meant for Backward Classes. He questioned why the Centre blocked what he called pro BC laws.
Mahesh Goud further alleged that the Modi government cut funds meant for employment guarantee schemes. He said women did not receive priority in the central budget. Meanwhile, he criticised BJP leaders for inciting people in the name of God. He expressed anger that, according to him, they were conspiring to win votes by dividing communities along religious lines. He repeated that the BJP’s plan was to win elections by spreading hatred.
In contrast, Mahesh Goud said the Congress agenda focused on development and welfare. He said the Congress believed in inclusive growth and social justice. He then demanded that BJP chief Nabeen answer the questions raised by the Congress. Later, he reiterated that Telangana would not accept politics based on fear or division.
The BJP inciting hatred allegation has added intensity to the political discourse in the state. Meanwhile, the remarks underline growing confrontation between the Congress and BJP ahead of key political developments in Telangana.
