BJP is against BCs: Gangula

Karimnagar, July 4 (Maxim News): Minister for Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again proved that it always works against the Backward Classes and it has no love and affection towards them.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Minister Kamalakar said the backward classes constituted about 65 percent of population in India but the BJP led government at the Centre has neither constituted a separate ministry for the BCs, nor allocated funds for their welfare.

” Since the representation given by the State government to the Centre asking the constitute of a separate ministry for BCs and allocation of a separate budget for their welfare, we have expected that the BJP would discuss the issue in its National Executive Committee meeting and would pass a resolution in this regard. But, the BJP has not touched the subject and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t say a single word about the welfare of BCs. It clearly indicates that the BJP is the party against BCs,” Kamalakar alleged.

Citing the resolution passed by the TRS government in the State Assembly, demanding the Centre to take up BC census in the country, Kamalakar said the Prime Minister didn’t not utter a single word on the matter and ignored the demand of BCs.

“The problems faced by the BCs cannot be resolved without conducting the BC Census,” Kamalakar pointed out.

Speaking about the paddy procurement issue, the Civil Supplies Minister lashed out at the Centre for showing discrimination towards Telangana and alleged that the union government was not showing any interests to procure paddy from Telangana.

“On the promise of union government which stated that it would purchase the entire raw rice produced in Telangana, the State government has procured about 94 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth about Rs.22,400 crores and kept the stock in godowns and rice mills. But, the Centre is now showing reluctance to procure the rice from the State. BJP leaders didn’t not say a single word on the rice procurement from the State in the meeting. Who will take a responsibility of 94 metric tonnes of paddy,? Kamalakar questioned. (Maxim News)
