Hyderabad, Nov. 3: A fresh political row has erupted between the Congress and the BJP after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi allegedly claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained in power with foreign assistance. BJP national spokesperson C.R. Kesavan strongly criticised Gandhi over the remarks.
Rahul Gandhi had reportedly accused the BJP of having an economy controlled by foreign interests. Responding to his comments, Kesavan described the Congress leader as a “despicable person” and accused him of repeatedly making baseless allegations.

Kesavan said Gandhi’s allegations were weak and lacked substance, adding that the Congress leader often faced criticism for his statements.
The BJP spokesperson also referred to Gandhi’s remarks on Indian democracy during his visit to the United Kingdom in March 2023. He accused Gandhi of seeking foreign interference in India’s internal affairs and shared a video of the Congress leader’s speech.
Kesavan further alleged that the Congress leadership had links with the Forum of Democratic Leaders in the Asia Pacific. He also claimed that the Congress had received funds from the George Soros Foundation.
Questioning Gandhi’s overseas visits, Kesavan asked why the Congress leader allegedly undertook private foreign trips and held meetings with people abroad without making their purpose clear.
The exchange has intensified the ongoing political confrontation between the Congress and the BJP, with both parties trading accusations over foreign influence, democracy and political accountability.
