BJP’S Political Strategy: President For A Woman: Three In The Race

Delhi/Hyderabad, July 4 (Maxim News): The suspense over the selection of the BJP national president continues.  Discussions are ongoing in political circles and within the party about who will be the next president.  Even after two years of JP Nadda’s term, a new president has still not been selected.  However, according to the latest information received from BJP sources, the BJP is likely to announce the name of the new national president in the second week of July.  With this, who will get the key post? There is a lot of excitement.  Now, the BJP is planning to give the post of president to a woman this time.

It is learnt that the party leadership is considering the names of three women for the post of BJP national president.  Among them, Union finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MP Purandeshwari and MLA Vanathi Srinivasan are the prominent names.  

Recently, a high level meeting was held at the party headquarters with current BJP national President JP Nadda and general secretary BL Santosh.  It is learnt that they were discussed on this occasion.  There is a chance of taking a final decision after Prime Minister Modi returns from his foreign trip.

However, it is reported that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s name is prominent in the race.  Party sources say that there was discussion on her extensive experience and leadership skills.  On the other hand, it is reported that the party leadership has thought that giving Sitharaman the responsibility of president will help strengthen the party in the south and expand the party.  Nirmala will also play a key role in the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil nadu.  In addition, she has successfully served as the Union Finance Minister and Defence Minister.  It seems that she has full support from the RSS.  In this context, sources say that she is the one who can become the president.  Along with these reasons, the Modi government is planning to implement 33 percent reservation for women by the next Lok Sabha elections.  It is also planning to pass this bill soon.  It is known that discussions are underway on giving Nirmala responsibilities in this context.

Tamil nadu lawyer and BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan is also under scrutiny.  She currently represents Coimbatore South in the state assembly.  Since joining the BJP in 1993, she has held many key positions, including state secretary, general secretary and Tamil nadu vice president.  In 2020, she was appointed as the national president of the party’s BJP Mahila Morcha.  In 2022, she was a member of the BJP Central Election Committee.  With this, her name is also being heard prominently.  If she is entrusted with the responsibilities of president, Vanathi’s mark is likely to be seen in Tamil Nadu.

Rajahmundry BJP MP Daggubati Purandeshwari’s name is also in the race.  It is known that Purandeshwari, a senior leader is already in several key positions, Purandeshwari continued as the AP BJP president until recently.

Recognizing the symbolic and strategic benefits of women leadership, the RSS has approved the idea of appointing a woman in the party’s top post, party sources have revealed.  with this, there are chances of handing over the presidential responsibilities to a woman this time.  (Maxim News)
