Blankets Distributed By NGO To Elderly In Adilabad

Adilabad: Peace Forum, a Hyderabad-based NGO, distributed 120 woolen blankets to financially weak senior citizens at Khanapur colony on Friday. The blankets were sponsored by P Sadu Sunder, a retired general manager of Hindustan Petroleum Company Limited (HPCL) belonging to the town in memory of his parents Yesudas and Sujanamma. Adilabad municipal chairperson Jogu Premender was the chief guest of the event.

Premender was all praise for the forum for coming to the rescue of the elderly who were struggling to withstand the freezing cold conditions. He said that the gesture brought respite to the poor senior citizens, helping them protect from the cold weather in the district headquarters. The chairperson lauded the voluntary organisation for taking up various social service activities such as skill development programmes, child counselling, programmes aimed at empowerment of women and children in the town and for serving the needy. He told voluntary organisations to draw inspiration from the forum.

Dayanand Haliga, managing trustee of Peace Forum, briefed the activities of the organisation. He said that the forum was established to work towards social and financial inclusion and various socio-economic cultural, educational, health and relief activities. The elderlies expressed gratitude to the voluntary organisation and Sunder for coming forward to help them.

Programme manager of the forum Priyanka, accounts officer Suresh, district coordinator Dandi Subhash, community organiser Sunitha, activists Devadas, David, Dayakar and others were present.
