Hyderabad, June 13: A bomb threat email targeting a Lufthansa flight arriving from Frankfurt, Germany, triggered a security alert at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Thursday.
According to airport sources, unidentified individuals sent an email claiming that an unattended bomb had been placed on the aircraft and would explode before landing. The threat prompted airport authorities and security agencies to immediately activate emergency protocols.
Following the alert, security personnel intensified surveillance and carried out thorough inspections as per standard operating procedures. Officials closely monitored the aircraft and airport premises to ensure passenger safety.
Authorities have not reported the discovery of any explosive device so far. Security checks were conducted to rule out any potential threat.
Airport officials noted that Shamshabad Airport has received several bomb threat emails and calls in recent years. Most of the threats were later found to be hoaxes.
However, authorities treat every threat seriously and conduct comprehensive security checks before declaring the situation safe.
Officials have begun efforts to trace the origin of the threatening email. A case is expected to be registered, and cybercrime investigators will examine the digital trail to identify those responsible.
Security agencies have reiterated that strict action will be taken against individuals found behind fake bomb threats, as such incidents create panic and disrupt airport operations.
