Hyderabad, June 13: A Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus driver was arrested after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road and creating panic among motorists in Hyderabad.
The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, showed the driver attempting to continue on the wrong route despite objections from commuters and traffic police personnel.
According to reports, the RTC driver entered a one-way stretch from the wrong direction, forcing approaching motorists, including bikers and car drivers, to stop abruptly.
When commuters asked him to move the bus to the correct route, the driver allegedly argued with them instead of complying. Even after traffic police personnel intervened, he reportedly continued driving in the wrong direction.
In a dramatic turn, a biker parked his vehicle across the road to block the bus and prevent it from proceeding further. During the commotion, the bus allegedly brushed against an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers.
A motorist recorded the entire incident and posted the video on social media, urging authorities to take action against the driver.
Responding to the complaint, Hyderabad Traffic Police registered a case and initiated action against the driver.
Police identified the vehicle as a TGSRTC bus operating on Route No. 195W. An examination of its records revealed that the bus had previously violated traffic rules eight times.
Officials also found that penalties amounting to ₹3,480 had already been imposed on the vehicle for earlier violations.
The incident triggered strong reactions online, with many social media users criticizing the driver’s conduct and calling for stricter enforcement of traffic rules for public transport operators.
