Hyderabad, May 17: A high alert was sounded at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Sunday after authorities received a bomb threat email targeting an international flight arriving from Amsterdam.
According to airport sources, the threat was linked to a Kuala Lumpur Airways flight travelling from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to Shamshabad airport.
Officials said an unidentified person sent an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the aircraft and warned that it could explode before reaching Hyderabad.
Flight Lands Safely After Bomb Threat
Following the alert, airport authorities immediately activated emergency security protocols and intensified surveillance operations at the airport.
Despite the threat, the aircraft landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Sunday morning.
After landing, passengers were safely deboarded and shifted out of the aircraft as a precautionary measure.
Security personnel then moved the aircraft to an isolated area for detailed inspection and sanitisation checks.
Bomb disposal squads and aviation security teams thoroughly searched the aircraft to verify the threat.
Officials said investigations are currently underway and no explosive material had been confirmed at the time of reporting.
This marks the third bomb threat received by Hyderabad airport in recent days.
Two days ago, airport authorities received a similar threat email regarding an AirAsia flight arriving from Malaysia to Hyderabad.
Earlier on Friday, another threat mail claimed that a Lufthansa Airlines flight travelling from Frankfurt to Hyderabad was carrying a bomb.
In both earlier cases, security agencies conducted extensive inspections after the aircraft landed and found no explosives.
The repeated bomb threat emails have raised serious concerns among aviation security officials and passengers.
Authorities are now trying to trace the origin of the emails and identify those responsible for creating panic through hoax bomb threats.
