Bonalu festival celebrated on grand scale in Old City
Hyderabad, Aug.1 (Maxim News): Bonalu festival was celebrated on a grand scale at Lal darwaza Simhavahini temple and several other temples in the city. As also in many parts of the State. All the temples were decked up for the festival.
Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav presented silk clothes to the Goddess at Lal Darwaza temple. Ministers Mohd Mahmood Ali, Indrakaranreddy, Haryana Governor Bhandaru Dattatreya, TPCC President Revanthreddy, state BJP President Bandi Sanjay were among the thousands of devotees who visited the temple and had Darshan of the deity.
Talasani later told the media that he prayed the Goddess Simhavahini to shower her blessings on all the people. He recalled that soon after formation of Telangana State, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had declared the Bonalu as a Government festival and since then making all arrangements for the devotees every year. Starting with Golconda temple first, Bonalu was celebrated at Secunderabad last week. He said lakhs of people are coming for the festival even from foreign countries.
The Minister stated that for the first time, the State Government has given funds for private temples also this year. The festival is also being celebrated at Kanakadurgamma temple at Vijayawada and also at New Delhi. He was happy that CM KCR had given prominence for agriculture and turned the State as a rice bowl in a short period.
The city police made necessary arrangements for hassle- free darshan of the goddesses at the temples.
Bonalu festival is celebrated at various locations like old city, Narayanaguda, Himayat Nagar, Kachiguda, Nimboli Adda, Charminar Area, Golconda, Sithaphalmandi, Warasiguda, Secunderabad and others.
The city temples are beautifully decorated with flowers, mango leaves and illuminated with enticing lights. With all facilities in place a large number of devotees thronged and participated in the festivities. They offered pujas and prayed to the Goddesses at various temples for the wellbeing of their families.
The festival was celebrated at Bangaru maisamma temple at Hari bowli, Akkanna Madanna temple, Gowliguda and other temples. (Maxim News)
