Celebrated with immense devotion and community spirit, Bonalu is one of Telangana’s most iconic festivals dedicated to Goddess Mahankali. From as early as 3 a.m., women devotees began lining up at the temple, creating a sea of color and devotion. The General Bazar and Monda Market areas were bustling with energy, drumbeats (dappulu), and the vibrant processions of Potharajus, symbolizing the fierce protectors of the goddess.

To manage the heavy footfall, temple authorities arranged multiple queue lines to streamline the flow of devotees and ensure a smooth darshan. Despite the arrangements, VIP visits caused delays, with common devotees waiting several hours for their turn to offer Bonalu, highlighting the need for better crowd management during high-profile visits.

With Sunday being a public holiday, major goddess temples across Hyderabad also witnessed packed crowds. Popular shrines such as Peddamma Thalli Temple in Jubilee Hills, Balkampet Yellamma Temple, Ashtalakshmi Temple in Kothapet, Kanakadurga Temple in Ameerpet, Jagadambika Temple in Golconda, and the Bhagyalakshmi Temple near Charminar saw thousands of worshippers offering Bonalu with fervent devotion.

The Bonalu celebrations will continue through the day, with special pujas, cultural performances, and vibrant processions planned across the city. Authorities have stepped up security and traffic arrangements to manage the surge of devotees and ensure a safe and spiritual celebration.
