Suryapet: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on Sunday said people should voluntarily boycott products made in China.
Kishan Reddy was speaking to the media after calling on the family of Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, who was martyred in clashes with Chinese troops in Ladakh, at their Vidyanagar residence here. He was accompanied by former State president Dr K Laxman and MLC N Ramachander.
Stating that China had betrayed India, which was trying to resolve the situation at the Line of Actual Control at Galwan Valley in Ladakh, he said the Chinese troops attacked Indian army personnel, in which 20 soldiers died. “The country is indebted to the sacrifices made by the martyrs, and their sacrifices will not go waste,” the Union MInister said, adding that after the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held all party meeting besides speaking with heads of several countries to muster support. “The Centre has also given a free hand to the army to act as developments unfold on the India-China border,” he added.
Stating that Santosh’s family was a family of the Indian Army, he assured that the Centre would extend all help to them. On the instructions of the Prime Minister, he visited the house of the slain colonel to console the members of the bereaved family.
He said the people of the country were angry with China and asked them to voluntarily boycott products made in China and stop using them.
