The decision comes after allegations raised by BRS MLA T. Harish Rao. He claimed that crushers operated by Raghava Constructions do not have permits. He also questioned why Ponguleti did not conduct a proper inquiry into the illegal mining activities earlier. Therefore, he demanded that Ponguleti resign and that a full investigation be ordered.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister expanded the scope of the probe. He directly criticized leaders from the previous government. He said that investigations will also cover the mining businesses of Gangula Kamalakar and Vaddiraju Ravichandra. He added that illegal sand mining in the Sircilla area will also be examined.

He further accused K. T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao of leading illegal mining during the previous government. The Chief Minister stated that the investigation will include all mining leases granted since June 2 last year. Therefore, the inquiry is expected to cover a wide range of activities.

Revanth Reddy said that the government will place the investigation reports before the House during upcoming Assembly sessions. He also made it clear that the government will not be intimidated by threats or blackmail from BRS leaders. He stated that facts will be brought out through the CID investigation.
