India Brazil Ties Gain Momentum
India and Brazil share a strategic partnership built on democratic values. The two countries formalised this partnership in 2006. Since then, India Brazil ties have expanded across several sectors.
Brazil remains India’s largest trading partner in the Latin America region. Therefore, trade and investment feature strongly in the agenda. Both countries have also increased cooperation in defence and energy.
Furthermore, they collaborate in agriculture, health and pharmaceuticals. Renewable energy, critical minerals and rare earth materials also remain priority areas. Science, technology and innovation projects continue to grow.
India and Brazil hold similar positions on major global issues. For instance, both support reforms in the United Nations. They also work together on climate action and counter terrorism efforts.
In addition, the two nations coordinate closely in multilateral groups. These include BRICS, IBSA, G20, G4, the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuel Alliance. They also cooperate within the United Nations, World Trade Organization and UNESCO.
As a result, the current visit aims to strengthen India Brazil ties further. Officials expect both leaders to chart a roadmap for deeper engagement across sectors.
