BRS CPI Alliance Wins Kothapalli Municipality In Mancherial
Hyderabad, Feb. 13: BRS CPI alliance wins Kothapalli Municipality in Mancherial district, delivering a setback to the ruling Congress party.
As a result, the opposition combine secured control of the civic body in a closely fought election.
Kothapalli Municipality falls under the constituency of IT and Industries Minister Vivek Venkata Swamy.
However, despite the minister’s presence in the district, the Congress failed to secure a majority.
Out of 22 wards, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi won 10 wards. Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India secured four wards.
Together, the BRS CPI alliance reached 14 seats, which ensured a clear majority in the municipal council.
The Congress party won seven wards. In addition, one Independent candidate emerged victorious. Counting officials declared the results amid tight security arrangements.

The pre poll alliance between BRS and CPI played a key role in the outcome. Therefore, the combined strength of both parties helped them cross the majority mark comfortably.
Former MLA Balka Suman coordinated party workers and managed campaign efforts at the ground level. Consequently, BRS maintained its organisational grip in the municipality.
On the other hand, Congress treated the election as prestigious due to the minister’s constituency.
However, the absence of a local alliance with CPI and the impact of Independent candidates affected its prospects.
Political observers note that the result may influence local equations in Mancherial district. Meanwhile, officials will complete formal procedures to constitute the new municipal council in the coming days.
