Hyderabad, Sept. 9: BRS MLAs were suspended for the remainder of the Telangana Assembly session on Wednesday amid continued protests inside the House.
The BRS members demanded action against Congress MLA Veerlapally Shankar over his alleged remarks concerning BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.
The Assembly witnessed protests soon after it convened. BRS MLAs held placards and raised slogans while demanding action against the Congress legislator.
Some BRS members also entered the well of the House during the protest. BRS working president KT Rama Rao was asked to submit a written notice on the issue.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the Congress did not endorse the controversial remarks. He said the party wished KCR a long and healthy life.
Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu also rejected the remarks. He said Congress did not support any statement wishing for KCR’s death.
Meanwhile, SC and ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman sought a discussion on the alleged “Shuddi” programme conducted by BRS workers at KCR’s Erravelli residence.
BJP MLAs held placards demanding a discussion on the 22A issue. Congress MLAs displayed placards referring to the alleged “Shuddi” incident.
Shadnagar MLA Veerlapally Shankar, who was at the centre of the controversy, was present in the House. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was absent.
As protests continued, Sridhar Babu moved a motion seeking suspension of BRS MLAs for the remainder of the session. The House was later adjourned for a tea break.
