Hyderabad, Sept. 9: SR Nagar police have registered a case against several mobile shops in Ameerpet for allegedly selling counterfeit back panels of OnePlus, Oppo and Realme smartphones.
According to police, the case was registered on September 1 following a complaint by Hemanth Sharma, an authorised representative of the three companies.
Sharma alleged that some businesses in Ameerpet were selling products that reproduced the companies’ intellectual property and packaging without authorisation.
Police later conducted seizures at several mobile shops in the area. They recovered large quantities of suspected counterfeit smartphone back panels.
Police Seize Over 3,000 Suspected Counterfeit Back Panels
From Mahadev Mobile Store, police seized 371 Realme, 424 Oppo and 195 OnePlus back panels.
At Shree Ganesh Mobiles, officials seized 360 Realme, 368 Oppo and 440 OnePlus back panels.
Police also seized 347 Realme, 288 Oppo and 239 OnePlus back panels from Durga Telecom.
The seizures total 3,002 suspected counterfeit back panels across the three shops.
Police said the investigation is continuing to trace the source of the products and identify others allegedly involved in their manufacture, possession and sale.
