BRS MPs Meet CEC Officials, Seek Central Force Deployment
- Party alleges code violations in Jubilee Hills by-election
- Complaint accuses Congress government of misusing power
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MPs met officials of the Central Election Commission (CEC) in Delhi on Friday to file a complaint regarding the Jubilee Hills assembly by-election in Telangana. BRS MPs K.R. Suresh Reddy and Damodar Rao personally met the CEC officials and submitted a formal complaint alleging multiple election code violations by the ruling Congress government in the state.
According to the BRS MPs, the Chief Minister and several state ministers are misusing their official positions, violating the Model Code of Conduct during the ongoing by-election process. The leaders alleged that the Congress party was “abusing its power in the by-elections” and urged the Election Commission to ensure that polling is conducted under strict central supervision.
The MPs requested the Election Commission to deploy central security forces at all polling stations in Jubilee Hills constituency. They argued that doing so was essential because the police in the region were allegedly acting in favor of the ruling party. “We have informed the CEC that there is a possibility of fraudulent voting if central forces are not deployed,” BRS MP K.R. Suresh Reddy clarified while speaking to the media after the meeting.
The BRS delegation also urged the Commission to appoint more women officers in the Jubilee Hills constituency, citing a higher number of female voters in the area. They stressed that such steps would ensure free and fair polling without fear or bias. Meanwhile, Election Commission officials are expected to review the complaint and assess whether additional security or measures are required to ensure the transparency of the upcoming by-election.
