Hyderabad, May 10: Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidhyarthi Wing staged a protest at the DGP office in Hyderabad on Sunday demanding the immediate arrest of Bhagirath in connection with an alleged POCSO case involving a minor girl.
Police detained several BRSV leaders during the flash protest, including state president Gellu Srinivas and vice president Thunga Balu.
The protest turned tense after activists raised slogans demanding the dismissal of Bandi Sanjay Kumar from the Union Cabinet.
Demonstrators also criticised A. Revanth Reddy and accused the state government of delaying action in the case.
BRSV questions delay in action
Addressing media persons during the protest, Gellu Srinivas questioned what he described as double standards in law enforcement.
He alleged that the minor girl and her family had been seeking justice for the past three months.
According to Srinivas, instead of receiving protection, the victim allegedly faced counter cases and harassment.
He further accused both the BJP and Congress of attempting to shield the accused.
The BRSV leader also questioned the silence of BJP leaders on the matter despite the party’s “Beti Bachao” campaign.
Meanwhile, women activists separately staged a protest at Pet Basheerabad Police Station on Sunday.
The protest coincided with the Telangana visit of Narendra Modi.
The activists demanded Bhagirath’s immediate arrest under the POCSO Act and sought the removal of Bandi Sanjay from the Union Cabinet, alleging that his position could influence the investigation.
