Hyderabad: A 36-year-old cab driver was arrested in Medipally after a 16-year-old girl allegedly reported that he sexually assaulted her at her home.
The accused, identified as Niranjan, is a resident of Peerzadiguda and was known to the Class X student. The alleged incident took place on August 2 when the girl was reportedly alone at home.
The case came to light after the student attended a ‘Good Touch-Bad Touch’ awareness programme at her school on Wednesday. Following the session, she reportedly broke down and approached She Teams personnel.
The girl allegedly disclosed the assault during the interaction. Based on her complaint, Medipally police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police subsequently arrested Niranjan and produced him before a court. He was later remanded in judicial custody.
The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the alleged assault.
