Internet/Hyderabad, Sept 1 (Maxim News): A key development has taken place in the cases registered regarding the students’ concerns over the NEET paper leak issue. The states of Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Assam have approached the Supreme Court seeking quashing of 116 FIRs registered against students. It is learnt that 4 states have appealed in separate petitions seeking immediate quashing of the cases registered in their states under Article 142 of the Constitution.
It is learnt that the states have mentioned in their petitions the assurance given to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on July 25 that the cases registered against the students would be withdrawn if they stopped their agitation. On the other hand, it is learnt that the central government has also filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the cases registered by the Delhi Police.
The Centre and states seem to have responded swiftly to the CJP’s call for a rally in Delhi on the 5th of this month demanding the withdrawal of cases registered against students. With this, a key decision is likely to be taken in the next hearing of the Supreme Court on the withdrawal of cases related to student agitations.(Maxim News)
