According to a Finance Ministry notification, the special additional excise duty on diesel exports has increased to Rs 14 per litre from Rs 13.5 per litre.

The government also raised the export duty on aviation turbine fuel to Rs 12.5 per litre from Rs 9.5 per litre.

However, the levy on petrol exports remains unchanged at Rs 1.5 per litre. The revised rates came into effect immediately.

The government also retained existing duty rates on petrol and diesel meant for domestic consumption.

Earlier, for the fortnight beginning June 1, the export levy stood at Rs 1.5 per litre for petrol, Rs 13.5 per litre for diesel and Rs 9.5 per litre for ATF.

The Centre introduced export duties earlier amid volatility in global crude markets linked to tensions in West Asia.

Officials said the move aimed to improve domestic fuel availability and reduce export pressure during periods of elevated international oil prices.

Separately, in April, the government increased excise duties on petroleum products, including high speed diesel.

It also revised the Road and Infrastructure Cess on diesel under provisions of the Finance Act, 2018.
