Centre should give a letter on paddy, BJP, Cong lying: Harish

Hyderabad, Nov.30 (Maxim News): Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao today criticised the Centre and the BJP leaders for spreading falsehood on paddy procurement. The Centre has to give a letter on paddy procurement and the Congress and the BJP should stop lying on the issue, he said.

Harish Rao told press persons at Sanga Reddy here that the Centre adopting dual standards and failing to protect the interests of the farmers. He expressed displeasure that Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and G Kishan Reddy are spreading falsehood. There is no coordination among the two central ministers on paddy procurement and central policy.

The Minister said that the Goyal and Kishan have to divulge its clear stance on paddy row to avoid confusion among the farmers. Both Goyal and Kishan Reddy are talking lies and differently on the paddy procurement demand. The Centre should give a letter on procuring the paddy from the state he demanded. The BJP has no moral right to talk on the same, Harish Rao said. Due to lack of clarity from the Centre we are not able to procure wet paddy from the farmers, he said. What extent the Centre will buy our stocks including paddy, boiled rice and raw rice, Harish Rao asked. There has to be a clear stand on the same as the centre buys paddy from other states like Punjab and others, he said.

The Minister took serious exception to the Congress and the BJP leaders for spreading confusion and falsehood. The BJP leaders have no right to talk on the paddy issue as they have confused the farmers and he expressed displeasure. The Centre has been playing with the lives of the farmers who are on a warpath against the draconian farm laws.

The centre, though trying to repeal the farm laws it has to come up with suitable measures and fix up MSP for farm produce across the country to address related issues, he suggested. We have procured 70 percent of paddy from the farmers and only 30 percent stocks remained, Harish Rao clarified. The Minister said that as many as 157 purchase centers are in Sanga Reddy district alone to get the paddy stocks from the farmers.

The farmers who are protesting at Delhi borders are not trusting the Centre on repealing the three farm laws, the minister opined. The Congress and the BJP have no right to talk about the farmers as they dumped them for about 70 years. During the congress rule the farmers faced many problems and now they are against the TRS Government.

Our government is for the farmers and increasing their benefits, he claimed. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has promised to give water for drinking and agriculture by taking all steps. The government will give water from Singur to Sanga Reddyt through a lift and water for drinking and irrigation to Narayankhed soon, the minister said. Soon KCR will start Basaveshwara and Sangameshwara lift projects, Harish Rao said. The Minister asked the opposition parties to stop spreading falsehood and lies on paddy procurement. (Maxim News)
