Delhi, May 24: The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying will organise the “Regional Review Meeting: Northeastern Region 2026” on May 25 in Aizawl, Mizoram to review development programmes and growth strategies in the fisheries, livestock and dairy sectors.
The meeting will be chaired by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh.
Union Ministers of State S. P. Singh Baghel and George Kurian will also attend the programme.
Ministers handling Fisheries and Animal Husbandry departments from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are expected to participate along with senior officials from the Centre and State governments.
Northeastern Regional Review Meeting Focuses On Growth
The meeting aims to review the implementation of schemes in fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying sectors across the Northeast region.
Officials will discuss strategies to improve sustainable growth, strengthen rural livelihoods and enhance farmers’ welfare.
Several projects and initiatives will be launched during the programme. These include a baseline village survey for expanding Multipurpose Dairy Cooperative Societies, an African Swine Fever awareness film and a booklet on pig farming practices.
The event will also witness the launch of MULCO Cow Ghee and the inauguration of Mizo Café and an FPO office cum sale outlet.
The Union Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth nearly Rs 32.15 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund.
Certificates, Fisheries KCC cards and awards for fisheries startups and cooperatives will also be distributed to beneficiaries from Northeastern states.
The programme will feature interactions with fisheries and dairy beneficiaries along with experience sharing sessions by farmers and entrepreneurs supported under government schemes.
Officials said the meeting would focus on increasing production, improving market linkages, strengthening exports and promoting sustainable practices in fisheries and livestock sectors across the Northeast region.
