India: OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Ads in India, expanding its advertising programme to one of its largest markets.
The company will show ads to logged in adults using the Free and Go plans. The ChatGPT Go plan costs Rs 399 per month in India.
The ads will appear at the bottom of ChatGPT responses. OpenAI said sponsored content will carry clear labels and remain visually separate from its answers.
Users on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education plans will continue to get an ad free experience. OpenAI also said advertisements will not influence ChatGPT’s answers.

India has become a major market for OpenAI. The company said India had more than 100 million weekly ChatGPT users as of February 2026.
Globally, ChatGPT crossed one billion weekly users earlier this month, according to the source material. OpenAI first announced its advertising test in January 2026.
The company began its US advertising pilot in February. It later expanded the programme to several international markets, including the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Japan and South Korea.
