CJP Leaders Case | New Delhi, Oct. 20: Delhi Police has transferred the investigation into the October 13 Jantar Mantar protest case involving Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das to its Crime Branch.
The transfer covers cases linked to alleged unauthorised entry into the protest site and threats reportedly received by the Special Executive Magistrate handling the proceedings. The move is intended to bring the related investigations under a specialised team, according to media reports.

Police had earlier registered a case after CJP leaders and other members allegedly entered the Jantar Mantar area without authorisation. The site had recently been removed from the list of designated protest venues.
CJP Leaders Case | Crime Branch to Examine Protest and Threat Allegations
The case involves CJP leaders Ranka and Das, who were arrested following the protest. Police alleged that the group entered the restricted area and raised slogans demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the protest, the alleged violations and the reported threats to the magistrate. Technical evidence and call records are reportedly being examined as part of the threat investigation.
The Crime Branch will also investigate whether the incidents were connected and whether there was any prior planning. These remain matters for investigation, and the allegations have not been established as findings of guilt.

The case has developed amid continuing protests by CJP and allied groups over electoral-roll revisions and their demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. The Election Commission has defended its revision process, saying voters whose names were wrongly deleted can seek re-enrolment.

The transfer of the investigation does not itself determine the guilt of the accused. Further action will depend on the evidence gathered by the Crime Branch and subsequent legal proceedings.
