Complaint Filed Sonia Gandhi Over Vande Mataram Row

Internet/Hyderabad, Aug 16: A controversy has erupted over the singing of Vande Mataram during an Independence Day celebration at the Congress headquarters.

BJP leaders in Karnataka filed a police complaint against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Sunday.

The complaint was lodged at Urwa police station, alleging that the Congress leadership attempted to obstruct the rendition of Vande Mataram.

The BJP has criticised the conduct of senior Congress leaders during the celebration and alleged that it amounted to disrespect towards the national song.

Congress Rejects BJP’s Allegations

A video of the incident has also circulated on social media.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari claimed that Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge appeared uncomfortable during the rendition.

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain described the alleged conduct of the Congress leaders as unfortunate and claimed there was an attempt to disrupt the singing.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra also accused the Congress leadership of deliberately disrespecting the national song.

The Congress rejected the allegations, saying Sonia Gandhi was checking whether the programme was proceeding properly.

The BJP’s police complaint has further intensified the political dispute between the two parties.
