Hyderabad, July 15: Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah on Tuesday accused the previous BRS government of weakening Telangana’s state owned dairy sector to promote the private Milchy Milk brand. He also demanded that former minister T Harish Rao clarify his alleged association with the dairy company.
Addressing the media at the CLP Media Centre, Ilaiah alleged that public sector dairies, including Vijaya Dairy and Mother Dairy, suffered during the BRS government. He claimed this benefited Milchy Milk, whose products were allegedly supplied to government hospitals, hostels and other institutions.
He said the Congress government is now reviving Vijaya Dairy and Mother Dairy. He added that farmers are once again supplying milk to Mother Dairy in large numbers.
Ilaiah challenged Harish Rao to an open debate on the issue at any venue, including the Assembly, Yadagirigutta temple or a Lord Rama temple.
The Congress leader also alleged that Harish Rao accumulated significant wealth during the BRS regime. He claimed the former minister was linked to the supply of Milchy Milk products to Narayana and Sri Chaitanya educational institutions.
Further, Ilaiah alleged that some educational institutions run by people from Andhra Pradesh were being pressured to purchase Milchy Milk products.
He challenged Harish Rao to publicly declare within 24 hours, in the name of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy of Yadagirigutta or Lord Rama, whether Milchy Milk belongs to him.
Ilaiah also alleged that Harish Rao’s wife, Tanniru Srinitha, had investments worth crores of rupees in the dairy venture. He demanded an explanation regarding the source of those investments.
Harish Rao has not publicly responded to these allegations.
