Congress Blames CM KCR For Tribal Woman’s Ceath In Bank Queue
Hyderabad, April 17 (Maxim News): Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir said people to support poor who were hit due to lockdown in whatever form they could. He said that the impact of ongoing crisis could be minimised if everyone plays his/her role without depending on the authorities alone.
Shabbir was speaking to media persons after distributing Ration Kits among 418 sanitation workers, water and electricity staff (municipal) of Kamareddy Municipality on Friday. He informed that the Ration Kits comprises of 10 items including 5 kg rice, 1 kg oil, 1 kg sugar, etc., His family members including his son Mohammed Ilyas, brother Mohammed Nayeem and others also distributed ration kits among 1100 sanitation workers, labourers, water works staff, daily wage earners, migrant workers and others in Kamareddy today on behalf of Shabbir Ali Foundation. More than 4,000 eggs and 1,000 packets of vegetables were also distributed among poor families on the occasion.
“On the instructions of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Congress leaders have been providing help to the needy persons in the best possible manner. Today we distributed Ration Kits among the entire sanitation, water and electricity staff of Kamareddy Municipality as a gratitude to the services they are rendering during the crisis created due to Coronavirus. This is everyone’s battle and we can win this only if we are united,” Ali said.
He informed that he has been providing food and other items to hundreds of migrant workers in Kamareddy ever since the lockdown was imposed in the State. He said the migrant workers were successfully convinced not to leave the area till the crisis is over and they were assured of food and other assistance during this period. Further, he said that the Congress leaders in entire Kamareddy district have identified the affected people and they have been providing necessary help in the form of cooked food or ration kits.
The Congress leader strongly condemned the State Government for its negligent attitude in providing help to the people affected due to prolonged lockdown. Although the promise of providing 12 kg rice per person and Rs. 1500 per family for White Ration Card holders was made by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on March 22, it was not delivered to all the beneficiaries even after 27 days. CM KCR owes an apology to the poor people for the delay and huge discrepancies in the distribution process,” he said.
Shabbir also blamed the State Government for the death of a Tribal woman in Kamareddy who died of heart attack while standing in bank queue for several hours to withdraw Rs. 1500 deposited by the government.
The victim, Kamala Bai, 45, hailed from Kannapur Tanda of Ramareddy mandal. She was reportedly coming to the bank for the last two days to withdraw the money. She was standing in the queue since today morning in the scorching heat and consequently, died of cardiac arrest.
On information, Shabbir Ali immediately rushed to the Kamareddy Government Hospital where the body was taken for post-mortem. He consoled the family members and also extended some financial help. Blaming State Government for Kamala Bai’s death, he demanded that the Chief Minister announce ex-gratia for her family members.
Ali said that people were losing faith on the State Government. “Since the promised assistance of Rs. 1500 was deposited almost 24 days after the announcement, people desperately needed the money as they have no other resources. Further, there were rumours that the deposited money would be taken back if it was not withdrawn. It was both need and fear that led many people to assemble at banks in large numbers violating the social distancing norms. State Government must have made adequate arrangements at the banks and ATMs for smooth and quick disbursement of money. In the absence of such arrangements, people only faced hardship and did not maintain social distance,” he said.
He reiterated the demand that the State Government announce package for the second phase of lockdown. (Maxim News)
