Sangareddy/Hyderabad, Dec 17 (Maxim News): Congress cadres allegedly attacked BRS workers in a village of Narayankhed mandal in Sangareddy district on Tuesday night, just hours before the third phase of polling. The incident took place at Jukal Thanda village and triggered tension in the area. According to the information available, the attack occurred when BRS workers tried to catch Congress activists who were reportedly distributing cash to lure voters.

The situation escalated after BRS cadres rushed to the spot on learning about the alleged cash distribution. Soon after, Congress cadres allegedly attacked them indiscriminately using sticks. During the attack, two cars belonging to BRS workers were also damaged. The violence unfolded close to polling time, raising concerns about law and order in the village.

Several BRS workers sustained serious injuries in the incident. Ravi Nayak, Maruthi Nayak, Ramulu Maharaj, Lakshmibai, Raju, Lakshman Rao, and Devi Singh suffered bleeding injuries during the attack. The condition of three among them was said to be critical. Meanwhile, locals rushed all the injured to the Narayankhed hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Later, former Narayankhed MLA and senior BRS leader M Bhupal Reddy visited the village. He strongly condemned the attack and accused the Congress party of resorting to violence due to fear of defeat in the elections. He demanded that the police act transparently while handling the case. He also urged the authorities to ensure justice to the injured BRS workers.

Meanwhile, the BRS leader pressed for strict legal action against those involved. He demanded that the police register attempted murder cases against the accused Congress cadres. Assuring full support to party workers, Reddy warned that Congress cadres would face a similar situation after the BRS comes to power. The incident has added to political tension in the region, especially as it occurred just before the crucial third phase of polling. Police are yet to release further details on the progress of the investigation. (Maxim News)
