Congress Lost Delhi Elections Due To Fragmented Approach In INDI Alliance: Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Feb 9 (Maxim News): Analysing the reasons for the Congress debacle in Delhi, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said in the INDI Alliance, every party was expecting everything with a fragmented approach and ultimately the BJP was benefiting.

This happened in the Delhi and Haryana elections. In Haryana, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal disturbed the Congress prospects and it lost. Similarly in the Delhi elections, the Congress “did something“, AAP lost and ultimately the BJP won, he observed.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters in Kerala on Sunday and replied to a few questions from the participants.

There was a polarization between the regional party and the national party.  People were voting only for position (ruling) and opposition parties and they were not giving space to other parties.

Earlier this was not the practice. People used to give some opportunities to different parties but nowadays they don’t want to waste their vote. Due to polarization, the anti-Kejriwal vote went to BJP. In Telangana too, it was BRS versus Congress and BJP ended up securing just 13 percent vote share in the assembly elections, he stressed.

On the Telangana Congress’s success formula, the Chief Minister said in Telangana votes were sought projecting CPP Chief Sonia Gandhi, who according to him, “delivered” the State.

Similarly in other States, votes should be sought in the name of central leadership. Even for Sarpanch elections, BJP projects Narendra Modiji. The Congress party was missing that link,” Revanth Reddy said.

Replying to a question on the Congress’s failure to give due respect to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, who hails from Telangana, the Chief Minister said it was just a perception created by BJP.

Congress made PV Narasimha Rao the Prime Minister and even AICC Chief and it has done a lot for the former Prime Minister. One cannot question the Congress party’s integrity towards him, he defended.

On the One Nation – One Election policy, the Chief Minister said it was a ploy of the BJP to control States.  Through a delimitation exercise, the BJP was cutting down parliament seats in southern States.

“Bimaru States like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh were enough to form the government at the centre and they didn’t have to depend on southern states.  it is going to damage democracy,” Revanth Reddy said.  (Maxim News)
