  • Revanth attacks BJP and BRS, vows transparent and people-focused governance

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the Congress government made many sacrifices to keep its election promises. Speaking at the Meet the Press program in Hyderabad on Sunday, he defended his government’s performance and compared it with the previous BRS rule. He said the Congress successfully implemented every scheme it promised and worked towards restoring financial discipline in Telangana.

He stated that comparing the present two-year Congress rule with the ten-year BRS tenure was unfair, as the state was left bankrupt by the outgoing regime. “Telangana has become completely bankrupt due to BRS,” Revanth Reddy said, adding that the Congress took charge of a state burdened with arrears and debts of eight lakh crore rupees. He said the government is rebuilding Telangana step by step, continuing all useful schemes introduced earlier, and initiating new welfare measures.

Revanth said the Congress government is focused on welfare and infrastructure. He highlighted that the Congress provided 200 units of free electricity, gas cylinders at Rs. 500, new ration cards, and a hike in farmer assurance. He also announced projects like the construction of new hospitals at Erragadda, Alwal, LB Nagar, and Warangal within a year and a half. “We are spending every rupee transparently,” he said, stressing that Congress is committed to good governance.

Taking a strong dig at the BRS and BJP, Revanth accused both parties of obstructing Telangana’s progress. He said BJP was blocking developmental projects like the Musi river initiative and had denied the state the ITIR corridor that could have generated lakhs of jobs. “KCR and Modi together cancelled the ITIR corridor,” he said, questioning BJP State leaders for not supporting Telangana’s development. He also called KTR and Kishan Reddy “thieves” and criticized them for not visiting flood-affected Musi areas.

Revanth praised the legacy of former Congress leaders, saying that the Hyderabad Metro was possible only due to Jaipal Reddy’s efforts. He accused the BRS of closing 5,000 schools, weakening public education, and ignoring the health sector. He cited ongoing initiatives such as Osmania Hospital’s Rs. 3,000 crore reconstruction, the proposed High Court on 100 acres, and the rise of Rajiv Aarogyasri coverage to Rs. 10 lakh.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that his government has completed a BC caste census, initiated the Young India Skills University, and launched recruitment drives filling over 60,000 jobs. He reiterated that Congress will remain in power for the next ten years, noting that the government is prioritizing city development and rural welfare equally. “I do not have a leader mindset, I have a cadre mindset,” he said, vowing to take the Congress message door to door during elections.
