Hyderabad, Sept. 20 (Maxim News): Shardiya Navratri 2026 will begin on October 11 and continue through the festive period leading up to Vijayadashami on October 20.
According to the Panchang cited by Aaj Tak, Ghatasthapana or Kalash Sthapana will be performed on October 11, marking the beginning of the nine day festival dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
Ghatasthapana will take place on October 11. The Delhi Panchang cited by Aaj Tak gives a morning Muhurat from 6:19 am to 10:12 am. The exact timing can vary between cities based on the local sunrise and Panchang calculations.
The nine days of worship will begin with Maa Shailputri on October 11. Maa Brahmacharini will be worshipped on October 12, followed by Maa Chandraghanta on October 13 and Maa Kushmanda on October 14.
Maa Skandamata will be worshipped on October 15, Maa Katyayani on October 16 and Maa Kalaratri on October 17. Maa Mahagauri will be worshipped on October 18.
In 2026, Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami will fall on the same day, October 19. Devotees observing these traditions may perform Kanya Pujan, Havan and other rituals according to their local Panchang.
Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, will be celebrated on October 20. The festival marks the conclusion of the Navratri period, with Ravan effigies, Ramleela programmes and other traditional events held in many parts of the country.
The main dates for Sharadiya Navratri 2026 are therefore October 11 for Ghatasthapana, October 19 for Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami, and October 20 for Vijayadashami.
Devotees planning religious ceremonies are advised to follow the local Panchang for their city, particularly for Muhurat timings. (Maxim News)
