Hyderabad, Sept. 8: Tensions escalated in Telangana on Tuesday after the Congress SC Cell called for a siege of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence in Erravelli.
The protest was announced to condemn what the Congress described as inappropriate remarks allegedly made by BRS MLCs against Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Several Congress supporters planned to march from Hyderabad towards Siddipet. Police imposed Section 144 and deployed heavy security at KCR’s farmhouse in Erravelli.

Police personnel were stationed at key points around the farmhouse to prevent protesters from reaching the premises.
Security was also tightened in surrounding areas as a precautionary measure. Police deployed additional forces to prevent any untoward incidents during the proposed protest.
The Congress SC Cell’s call comes amid rising tensions between the ruling Congress and opposition BRS.
