Congress will not permit private universities: Uttam
- Hundreds of TRSV activists join Congress
- Uttam accuses KCR of ruining education system
- Congress promises to strengthen State universities
Hyderabad, October 23 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party, if voted to power in next elections, would not allow private universities in the State.
He was speaking on the occasion of joining of hundreds of TRSV activists from Palamuru, Kakatiya and JNTU Universities under the leadership of JAC leader Vignesh Naik into Congress party at a function held at Indira Bhavan in Gandhi Bhavan premises on Tuesday.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS regime had completely ruined the education system of Telangana by letting all State universities starve for funds and staff during the last four-and-a-half years. He said required funds were not released to Osmania, Kakatiya, Palamuru, Telangana and other universities. No efforts were made to fill the vacancies in State universities and none of the problems being faced by the existing staff were resolved. Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao allowed the conditions in all universities to deteriorate which consequently had a negative impact on quality of education. All this was done to facilitate establishment of private universities.
The TPCC Chief alleged that KCR Government had mortgaged the interest of lakhs of poor students by allowing private universities. He accused the TRS Government of exploiting the youth and students during the last four-and-a-half years. He said students were harassed by not releasing Fee Reimbursement dues. Further, neither the vacancies in government departments were filled nor new job opportunities were created, he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi had granted Telangana due the struggle and sacrifices made by the students. However, students and youth remained deprived from the formation of new State while only one family of KCR enjoyed all the benefits.
The TPCC chief said when the Congress party promised to give Rs. 3,000 Unemployment Allowance to jobless youth, KCR copied it and made the promise by adding just Rs. 16 it. “Are you trying to make fun of jobless youth?” he asked KCR and questioned as to why TRS Government did not give any allowance to jobless youth during the last four years. “KCR himself admitted that over 12 lakh jobless youth were identified in the Intensive Household Survey. When he had those figures since August 2014, why he did nothing to help those jobless youth for over four years?” he asked.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR family lived a lavish lifestyle in a Rs. 300 crore bungalow (Pragathi Bhavan) spread across 1 lakh sft. KCR had money to buy luxury cars worth Rs. 100 crore or fly in chartered jets. But he had no money to clear Fee Reimbursement dues or create jobs. He also slammed the TRS Government for its failure to start Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) which was sanctioned by previous Congress-led UPA Government to create over 50 lakh direct and indirect jobs.
The TPCC Chief said that neither KCR nor KTR made any contribution in the statehood movement. “I’ve already exposed with authentic documents that KCR’s fast was fake. Similarly, KTR was not in the peripheries of Telangana movement. He did his education from Andhra and later worked in the USA. Having sensed that the Congress party would soon give Telangana he returned to Hyderabad and now enjoying power,” he said while dismissing KTR’s claims that TRS fought and took Telangana. “A gang of four is cheating 4 crore people to enjoy the benefits of a new State,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi was all set to become next Prime Minister of India and once Congress gains power at the Centre, Telangana would get a Railway Coach Factory at Kazipet, Steel Factory at Bayyaram and ITIR for Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
The TPCC chief appealed the students and youth to campaign for the Congress party in next elections. Stating that only 45 days were left for the polling, he asked each activist to ensure that he gets 100 votes of his family members, friends and neighbours for the Congress party. He also cautioned them that TRS might use money and muscle power or even misuse police to indulge in irregularities during elections. “You’ve to be prepared for anything and give a tough fight to save democracy in Telangana. It is your enthusiasm and zeal that will bring back Congress party to power in next elections,” he told students and youth.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that if KCR retains power then he would completely dismantle the entire education system. He said that the next Congress Government would not allow private universities and it would strengthen the State universities by giving them funds and required staff. (Maxim News)
