Crime In Hyderabad Drops By 15% In 2025, Women, Child Cases Surge

Hyderabad: Hyderabad crime 2025 registered a clear decline across major categories, even as offences against women and children increased, according to the annual crime statistics released by the Hyderabad city police on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The report showed a 15% reduction in overall crime compared to the previous year, reflecting sustained enforcement and investigative efforts across the Commissionerate.
According to the data, the total number of cases registered under core criminal laws, special local laws, and other statutes fell to 30,690 in 2025 from 35,944 in 2024. Meanwhile, cases booked under core criminal laws and special local laws alone declined by 14%. Bodily offences dropped by 16%, with grave bodily offences showing a marginal fall, while non grave bodily offences recorded a sharper decline during the year.
Property offences, cybercrime, and SC ST Act cases show decline
Property related offences saw a major reduction in Hyderabad crime 2025. The report showed a 28% decline in property offences overall. Grave property offences fell by 31%, while non grave property offences declined by 28%. Cybercrime cases also reduced by 8% during the year. In addition, cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act declined by 27%, indicating a broader downward trend across several crime categories.
Hyderabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said the reduction was the result of focused policing and improved investigation methods. He said, “Our crime teams demonstrated exceptional dedication, solving several high-profile cases and ensuring swift action against offenders. These achievements, supported by proactive field policing, improved investigative practices, and data-driven analysis, contributed to a 15% reduction in overall crime across the Commissionerate.”
Crimes against women and children rise; traffic indicators improve
However, the report flagged a rise in sensitive crime categories. Crimes against women increased by 6% in 2025, with cases rising to 2,625 from 2,482 in 2024. Offences against children under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act rose sharply by 27%, with cases increasing to 568 from 449. Police officials said these trends highlight the need for continued preventive measures and victim centric policing.
Meanwhile, traffic related data showed improvement. As of December 20, 2025, total road accidents declined to 2,679 from 3,058 in 2024. Deaths reduced from 301 to 294, while non fatal accidents and injuries also declined. Pedestrian accidents fell from 974 to 837, with fatalities and injuries also decreasing. Police booked 7,808 minor driving cases, filed charge sheets against minors and vehicle owners, and collected fines amounting to ₹70,61,640.
