Crime Rate Rises By 9.87 Percent This Year Comparing To Last Year: DGP Jitender

Hyderabad, Dec 29 (Maxim News): DGP Jitender revealed that there has been a 9.87 percent increase in cases in Telangana this year 2024 compared to last year. He released the Telangana Annual Crime Report on Sunday

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that a total of 2,34,158 cases have been registered across the state this year. He clarified that law and order in the state is under control except the minor incidents. He said that they are working towards making Telangana a zero-drug state. He said that 85 Maoists have been arrested this year. He revealed that 1942 drug cases have been registered across the state. He said that 20 tons of drugs worth Rs. 142.95 crore have been seized. He revealed that the accused had been convicted in 48 drug cases.

He said that cybercrime has increased drastically in Telangana this year compared to last year. A total of 25,184 cybercrime cases have been registered this year, which is an increase of 43.33 percent compared to 2023. For the first time in the country Rs. 2.42 crore cash has been recovered from cybercriminals, he said, Rs. 180 crore worth of funds have been refunded, while assets worth Rs. 247 crore have been frozen by the police. He said that 547 SIs and 12,338 constables have been recruited in 2024. People who responded faithfully to the Dial 100 service made 16,92,173 calls.

The implementation of new laws began in 2024, 85,190 cases were registered under these new laws. With the implementation of the “Zero FIR” system, 1,313 cases were registered through the judicial system.

In addition, the DGP responded to several issues, including police suicides in the state. Financial difficulties, personal problems, and family problems are the main reasons. Every year, people commit suicide due to some reason. He said that in some cases, suicides have also occurred due to work pressure. He said that family counseling is being conducted for those who are prone to suicide and attempts are being made to resolve problems through counseling.

The Alu Arjun case is currently in court and a thorough investigation is underway, he said, a Phone tapping case on which investigation is also ongoing. A letter has been written to the CBI.

In Prabhakar Rao’s case, an International process is underway to extradite him to India through the primary process from the US. He said that Interpol is being sought for help.

The DGP said that despite the increase in the crime rate in Telangana this year, the actions of the authorities on law and order, cybercrime, and drugs have been remarkable.

The DGP said on this occasion that the police, committed to the safety of the people, have made the judicial system more efficient through new laws. This report shows that the importance of law and order has increased further in 2024. (Maxim News)
